The Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (Bundesanstalt für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung) is a German institution under public law, directly subordinate to the Federal Government and empowered to conduct business on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (Bundesministerium für Ernahrung, Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz, BMELV).

PtJ (Project Management Jülich) is a German research agency based at the research centre Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, which undertakes the management of R&D and innovation programmes of various contractors representing the national government; mainly the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour (BMWA), the Federal Ministry for Environment (BMU).

The Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) focuses on the protection of animal health and human health through safe foodstuffs as priority areas. This also includes the protection of consumers against zoonoses and zoonotic agents that have emanated from the agricultural livestock sector.
